How much does a lawyer earn?

Determining how much a lawyer earns is a topic that always causes difference of opinion, since it is a profession in which salaries vary depending on different factors. However, it is known that lawyers have good salaries, although it is necessary to know how the type of company influences the salary.

One of the fundamental aspects about the salary of a lawyer is knowing that the Official Bar Association of each province determines minimum prices that each lawyer must charge for his or her work. This is a measure designed to avoid unfair competition, although this does not prevent differences from existing.

How much does a private sector lawyer earn?

Although lawyers are highly regarded in Spain, those in the private sector are the ones who are best rewarded in terms of salary. Junior lawyers, that is, those with less experience, earn between 1,200 and 1,500 euros net per month. It is not a bad figure to start with, and the best thing is that it continues to rise as the years go by and experience is accumulated.

So… how much does a more experienced lawyer earn? Well, the biggest salary jump occurs after 2 or 3 years of experience. In that period, the salary of a lawyer can be between 1,800 euros net per month. Later, after 4 or 5 years of experience, the salary can range between 3,800 euros net euros per month. How much does a public sector lawyer earn?

Salaries in the public sector are lower in this profession, but they are still competitive. In any case, private law firms are aware of what is happening in the public sector, since supply and demand requires a regular rotation of professionals. Although the offers are not very large when the public sector lawyer wants to jump to the private sector, it is a considerable figure for senior lawyers, who can earn around 90,000 euros when moving to the private sector.
